This is a sensitive ongoing defect investigation. The house was extended significantly back in 2016 with the major change being below ground structures. The existing house was retained but an additional 3 floors below ground were added. In 2022 a year after the owners moved in, signs of dampness were discovered. The Project Consultants Baker Wilkins called Surv-A in to start the investigation into causation. The due diligence process called for record drawings and documents but few were found or provided. We do know a specialist water proofing contractor was engaged to undertake internal waterproofing systems. Surv-A requested initial exposure works to be carried out. Upon further inspection, it became clear that not only were there workmanship defects and deviation from good practice methods, the design of the waterproofing was fundamentally floored, evidenced by free water ingress to several locations below ground.
